Diego’s Mexican Restaurant | Owen OConnor Rhode Island

NEWPORT, RI – A weekend trip to Newport, RI is incomplete without a stop into Diego’s Mexican Restaurant on beautiful Bowens Wharf.  Craving authentic Mexican fare, Owen O’Connor stopped in for some delicious empanadas with chipotle aioli and margaritas. Other recommended items (not pictured) include the fish tacos, blood orange margaritas, and freshly made churros for dessert! There’s nothing like good food, beautiful views, and gorgeous weather to top off an incredible weekend. Cheers!

Chinese Takeout | Owen OConnor Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, RI – Despite being hesitant to order Chinese food last weekend, Owen OConnor was pleasantly surprised by China Sea, located in Tiverton Rhode Island.  Some of the more notable dishes ordered were the General Tsao Chicken, the lettuce wraps and the Pork Dumplings.  Even the white rice was delicious.  Perhaps most surprising, he food was delivered in about 18 minutes.  Had Owen ordered pizza, it would have been over an hour.  To anyone in the Eastern Rhode Island area, China Sea is by far the best for Chinese Takeout – http://www.tivertonchinasea.com/

Best Salmon | Owen O’Connor Rhode Island

RHODE ISLAND – After visiting lots of restaurants in Rhode Island over the last few month’s, Owen OConnors pick for the best salmon was by far The Mooring Restaurant in Newport, RI.  Located on Bowen’s Wharf, it was easy to get to with parking right in front, the staff was amazing and the food was even better.  The salmon was cooked to perfection and the atmosphere made everyone feel at home.  For more info on The Mooring, check out their link here:  http://www.mooringrestaurant.com/

Cook & Brown Public House Delivers Great Meal | Owen OConnor • Providence, RI

As some business colleagues had promised Owen OConnor and Bard Moshagen thoroughly enjoyed their dining experience at Cook and Brown Public House in Providence, Rhode Island. The restaurant is located on the East Side of the City – not too far away from their Providence hotel. Favorites on the menu included MEXICAN STYLE CORN ON THE COB, PAN ROASTED COD, NARRAGANSETT CREAMERY RICOTTA GNOCCHI. The most delicious item of the evening, however, was the CHARCUTERIE BOARD. The CHARCUTERIE BOARD paired perfectly with a great red off the wine list. Owen and Bard definitely plan to return. Cook and Brown in Providence, Rhode Island Website: www.cookandbrown.com

Owen OConnor Tries out Newport, Rhode Island’s White Horse Tavern

Owen OConnor took the opportunity while in Newport at a business meeting last week to have dinner at Newport, RI’s famous White Horse Tavern, apparently the oldest tavern in the United States!  Imagine that, right here in little Rhode Island.  The meal was amazing – Owen started with Semolina Fried Local Oysters, then moved on to a perfectly cooked Braised Boneless Short Rib.  While the food was excellent, the craft cocktails were even better.  The creative use of bitters by the genius bartenders really makes this restaurant stand out from the rest in Rhode Island, and certainly from the other Providence, RI dining destinations.  Here is a link to the White Horse Tavern – http://whitehorsenewport.com/.  Check out their menu then stop by!
